Rosa Castillo

Rosa Castillo (1910 - 1989) was active/lived in Mexico.  Rosa Castillo is known for Sculpture.

Sister of the sculptor Fidencio Castillo, Rosa Castillo was a sculptor whose work was characterized by addressing indigenous themes, representations of children's groups, the female nude, motherhood and local customs and manners. 

Rosa was an assistant in the workshop of Francisco Zúñiga, where she learned to draw and knew the process of sculpture in depth.  She was also student of Luis Ortiz Monasterio and of Jose L. Ruiz. Later, she joined La Esmerada as a workshop assistant.  Upon graduation, she began working at the SEP as an art teacher, practicing teaching for almost 20 years.  With her brother she formed several generations of students at the "Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado (La Esmeralda), where she excelled at being a teacher who implemented effort, creativity and discipline in each sculpture.
