An important and influential Canadian painter, printmaker, draftsman, sculptor, muralist, photographer, poet and educator, Roy Kenzie Kiyooka (1) was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and died in Vancouver, British Columbia, his most frequent home since 1960. Virtually all Canadian art history books, written since 1960, discuss Kiyooka's national significance as a pioneer of international modern art in Canada, and dozens of his works are in the permanent collections of major Canadian museums.

His mediums included oil, acrylic, water color, mosaic*, collage*, Duco automobile lacquer, enamel, ink, Aquatex, monotype*, serigraph*, stencil, photography, found objects, mixed mediums, wood, plastic, fiberglass, performance, film, and music.
