Sadegh Tabrizi

Sadegh Tabrizi (1939 - 2017) was active/lived in Iran, Islamic Republic of.  Sadegh Tabrizi is known for Iranian modern art forms of figures, calligraphy, architecture elements, painting.

A pioneer of Iranian modern art, Sadegh Tabrizi’s work is characterised by his use of traditional Iranian forms and motifs including calligraphy, architectural elements, metal work, talismanic shirts, coffee house murals, Persian miniatures and Qajar painting.

 After studying miniature painting at secondary school, Tabrizi worked in the ceramic workshop of the Administrative Office of Fine Arts. Graduating from the newly formed College of Decorative Arts in, he continued his studies with an MA in interior design.

As a member of the neo-traditional Saqqakhaneh movement, Tabrizi does work that exemplifies the neo-approach that the movement became known for. Experimenting with a diverse array of media including parchment and mirror mosaic, the artist was also known for his large public commissions.
