Sam (Samuel) Scott

Sam (Samuel) Scott (Born 1940) is active/lives in New Mexico, Illinois.  Sam Scott is known for Non objective imagery, graphics.

Abstract landscape painter, Sam Scott, traveled all over America and the world before he found his home in New Mexico. Scott paints the landscape capturing the soul and essence of the place. In his series "Four Seasons" 1996-1997 each painting was begun on the day of the equinox or solstice of a new season and the artist attempted to capture the unique light and climate of each period.

Sam Scott had his first one-man museum exhibition in 1974 at the New Mexico Fine Arts Museum. In 2004 he will celebrate a 30 year retrospective, "Sam Scott: An American Voice, 1967-1997" at Santa Fe's Museum of Fine Arts.

In 1998 the artist was invited by the French government to paint a series of watercolors in a national park along the Asse River. In 1999, Scott participated in an exchange celebrating the normalization of relations between the United States and Vietnam. He collaborated with Vietnamese artist, Do Son, on a painting for peace and healing.
