SAMUEL BROWN WYLIE (March 2, 1882 – February 19, 1962)
AKA “Samuel B. Wylie,” “Samuel Brown Wylie IV”

Landscape painter and illustrator.  Long given incorrect birth (1900) and death (1957) dates, Wylie was actually born in Indiana in 1882, the son of Sara Seabrook Mitchell (1857 – 1899) and Samuel Brown Wylie III (1854 – 1890), both of whom died when Wylie was still a child.  By 1900, he and his siblings were being raised by his aunt, Elizabeth Louisa Boisen (1839 – 1930) in the home of his grandmother, Rebecca Dennis Wylie (1812 – 1913), located on 2nd Street in Bloomington City, Perry Township, Monroe County, Indiana.
