Theodore Charles Balke

Theodore Charles Balke (1875 - 1951) was active/lived in France, Africa.  Theodore Balke is known for Landscape Painting; Street and Market Scenes.

Theodore Charles Balke spent four years studying all the techniques of painting in Florence, where he lived an artistic reconversion, before he embarked in 1899 for Tunisia and enrolled at the Academy of Carthage. There, he studied urban landscapes and transcribed on his canvas the animated scenes of the streets and markets of Tunis. He lived from his painting until the declaration of war in 1914 and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1920/21.
