Born in Forth Worth, Texas, he earned a B.A. degree from Hardin-Simmons University and an MFA in 1969 from the University of Illinois. He has been Associate Professor of Art at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, from 1969 to 1978, and in 1978, began teaching art at North Texas State University.
