Ward Palmer Mann

Ward Palmer Mann (1921 - 2005) was active/lived in New York, Massachusetts.  Ward Mann is known for Landscape, marine, figure and seascape painting.

Following are excerpts from the obituary of Ward Mann published in the Gloucester Daily Times (Massachusetts) on October 15, 2005.


"Ward P. Mann, 84, a well-known artist, died on Thursday, October 13, 2005, in Webster, New York after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Detroit on October 3, 1921, his interest in art blossomed as a young man through classes at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Scarab Art Club.   He later attended Cass Tech High School, where his focus shifted to aviation and engineering.

During World War II, he volunteered and served in the South Pacific as a navigator in the US Army Air Corps.  After the war, he graduated from the University of Michigan College of Engineering.  He enjoyed a productive engineering career, working for Holley Carburetor, Vickers Inc. and Xerox Corporation.  After relocating to Webster, he rekindled his interest in art.  Largely self-taught, he devel   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 2577 characters.]  Artist bio
