Bruce Clarke

Bruce Clarke (Born 1959) is active/lives in United Kingdom.  Bruce Clarke is known for Painting.

Born 1959, in London, his parents having recently emigrated from South Africa, Bruce Clarke studied Fine Arts at Leeds University.  He is visual artist and photographer based in Paris but deeply preoccupied with the African continent.

Clarke's work deals with the writing and transmission of contemporary history.  He sees his work as stimulating reflection of both the world itself and the way world is represented.  Clarke's work is consciously anti-elitist, avoids self-indulgence and grapples with major world issues.

He is the originator of the on-going collective work, "the Garden of Memory" a memorial sculpture for the victims of the Rwanda genocide.  The project is supported by UNESCO and is being enacted in partnership with civil society organizations in Rwanda.
