Biography from Pierre Berge

Giuseppe Diamantini was a highly regarded artist of his time.  He did his training in Bologna, where he particularly admired the paintings of Annibale Carracci and Ludovique.  He moved to Venice, which became the seat of his activity almost until his death.

In the lagoon city Diamantini came in contact with several families of the local nobility, who protected him as patrons.  His production for the most part involved easel paintings.  It must be stressed that the number of works now associated with his name is quite reduced.  It is considered that the majority of his paintings disappeared.
