Hugo Boettinger was born in 1880 in the Czech Republic. Boettinger studied at the Prague School of Arts and Crafts in 1895 and in 1899 transferred to the local academy. Beginning in 1902, he traveled to Paris, London, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with his friend TF Simon,. From 1907, Hugo Boettinger was a member of the Hagenbund and the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts. Hugo Boettinger was also known as Dr. Desiderius.
