Imro Weiner-Kral

Imro Weiner-Kral (1901 - 1978) was active/lived in Czech Republic, Germany.  Imro Weiner Kral is known for Figure and landscape painting, illustration, graphic art.

Imro Weiner Král, also written as Imrich Weiner-Král (* 26 October 1901, Považská Bystrica - † 11 August 1978, Bratislava) was a Slovak painter and graphic artist. He was the most original representative of Slovak art super-realism and Art Nouveau expressionism

From 1919 to 1922, he studied Architecture and Painting at the Czech Technical University and the Art and Industrial School in Prague. Since 1922 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf. In 1923 he moved to the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. From 1924 he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

In Paris he also worked briefly in the Colarossi and Grande Chaumiére studios. From there he returned to Slovakia in 1924. He lived in Považská Bystrica. Then he lived in Bratislava in 1929-1932, later in Berlin.

In 1936, he organized the first Nadrealistic exhibition in Bratislava, together with the painter F. Malý. In 1938 he decided to emigrate to Paris, where he joined the anti-fascist resistance. In 1950,   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1563 characters.]  Artist bio
