Jakob Silven was born in 1851. He became a Swedish painter. In the summer of 1878, Silvén made a trip through Norrland. At the memorial exhibition after his death, four paintings with motifs from Lapland included were collected from Arvidsjaur, Wirijaur, Tjåmotis and Kvikkjokk (op. Cit., No. 9, 70, 86 and 87), one of which was dated 1878.
