John Hassall

John Hassall (1868 - 1948) was active/lived in England, United States, United Kingdom.  John Hassall is known for Illustration, advertising poster design.

John Hassall, the son of a naval officer, was born in Walmer, Kent, England in 1868. He studied art in Antwerp and Paris at the Academie Julien, 1894. He eventually became a full-time illustrator, designing posters and children's books. He created the poster for the Belgian Canal Boat Fund, which was an attempt to raise money in order to send food, clothing and medical aid to civilians living in Allied controlled Belgium. Hassall died in 1948.
