Artist Biography & Facts
Nicola Casissa

Nicola Casissa (before 1680 - 1731) was active/lived in Italy.  Nicola Casissa is known for Floral, fruits and bird still life painting.

Casissa was a refined emulator of Gaspare Lopez, Francesco Lavagna and his teacher Andrea Belvedere. De Dominici recalls the longevity and fame dictated by his sumptuous still lifes. His redundant style and rocaille taste is best expressed above all in the creation of elegant flower vases, conceived through a free and loose draft, which in part omits the botanical truthfulness, preferring the aesthetic and pictorial aspects, rich in chromatic gradations imbued with a brightness designed to best enhance the tonal values.
