An abstract expressionist painter in the beginning of his career, he later moved to realism.Hall was a tenured professor of art at Pratt Institute in New York, where he taught for 33 years.  Upon retiring from teaching, he lived and worked in Newfane, Vermont and Laguna Beach, California.

Biography from Bradford's Auction Gallery

Artist Richard Hall was born in 1937. For 35 years Hall enjoyed a successful career in fine art, using his talents to explore the opposing worlds of abstract art and traditional still life. But chance intervened when a mischievous toddler added her two-cents worth to one of Richard's still life settings, prompting Richard to see his work in an entirely new way. Richard Hall passed away in 2002.
