Steve Gerhartz (1971-present) is currently residing in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. After attending the Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Old Lyme, Connecticut, Steve Gerhartz moved back to Wisconsin to begin a full-time career in the art field. He currently works on portraits, still-life, and landscapes for gallery shows in a number of Midwestern galleries including Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, and Ohio. Gerhartz is working with other galleries across the United States as well.

Growing up outside a small Wisconsin town, he has been inspired by nature all of his life. This inspiration and his ability to capture the realism of the subject is displayed in his paintings. In the past five years Steve has also received two sculpture commissions. One of the commissions was for

Steve Gerhartz (1971-present) is currently residing in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. After attending the Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Old Lyme, Connecticut, Steve Gerhartz moved back to Wisconsin to begin a full-time career in the art field. In 1992, Gerhartz was the recipient of the Stobbart Foundation Award, that provided financial aid to artists changing from student to professional status.


Biography from Trailside Galleries

Steve Gerhartz has been a full-time artist for 17 years. He developed his love of painting outdoors in plein air as a teenager with his brother, Dan, in a small town outside of Wisconsin where they grew up. He attended the Lyme, CT Academy of Art, and was awarded the John Stobart Outdoor Painting Fellowship at the conclusion of his studies.

Gerhartz now lives in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, an opportune location where he can study nature and use it as endless inspiration for his realistic landscape paintings. He paints on location in all seasons, capturing the essence of nature's moods, light and color. Besides landscapes, Steve also paints still life paintings and portraits, and he has also begun creating sculptures.
