"Tomasz Kawiak bends over the question of what form consists of.  The artist treats this problem in a conceptual way, thinking about the gesture itself when creating the form, the mathematical solution behind the line drawing.  By fixing the brushes at a fixed, fixed point of the image, setting them in motion, it circles the semicircle forms with paint to then return to the starting position."  Max Mogan Gielniewski

Considering the artistic achievements of Tomasz Kawiak, it is impossible not to notice a certain cold, deterministic convention close to conceptual thinking.  The artist bends over the problem of form and gesture, often referring to the idea of mathematical rationalism.

The composition entitled "Painting leaves traces around the axis" is a registration of the process accompanying the creation of the work.  Using the scientific nomenclature, it is both the design, course and result of an artistic experiment.

For the artist himself, his "clear reception structure" is extremely important wash.  As he admits, "such an exponent must be a sense of scale, clarity of the tool used."

The recipients of Kawiak's work identify with the tools placed in the painting, which have been subjected to repetitive movements, to finally state that they themselves have become participants in the artist's top-down programmed gesture.  The works from the cycle from which the presented composition originates have been created in France since the mid-1970's.  About 30 works were created within the series.

The artist attached the tools of his work to the ground - pencils, paints, brushes. Often, the artist placed them on a designated radius, which he measured with a ruler. The mentioned tools move like on a "leash" leaving traces in the image.  After leaving the right visual elements, the artist inlaid the instruments in the painting, leaving them there for eternity.
