Vaclav Radimsky

Vaclav Radimsky (1867 - 1946) was active/lived in France, Czech Republic.  Vaclav Radimsky is known for Impressionist and Barbizon style landscape painting.

Born on June 10, 1867 in Kolin, Bohemia, he studied at the "Akademie der Bildenden Künste" in Munich, Germany and then at the "Akademie der Bildenden Künste" in Vienna.

From the early 1890s, he lived in France, mainly at Giverny.  From 1892 on he exhibited at the Paris Salon.  During this time he also sent his paintings home to Bohemia.  After the first World War, Radimsky returned home and specialized in landscapes of the River Elbe region.

He was the first Czech painter to have direct contact with French Impressionism, winning medals in Rouen in 1895, and at the World's Fair in Paris in 1900.  From 1900 on, he exhibited in Prague, Czechoslovakia,  Vienna, Austria, Berlin, Düsseldorf and Leipzig, all Germany.

Radimsky died in January 31, 1946 in Pasinka, Bohemia, Czech Republic.
