Ernst Benkert (1928 - 2010) was active/lived in Illinois, New York.  Ernst Benkert is known for Geometric abstraction, optical art.

Ernst Benkert was an American artist born in 1928. He was part of the Anonima Group, a collective of 

Benkert, along with Francis Hewitt and Edwin Mieczkowski, presented an exhibition at the Foksal gallery in Warsaw in 1966, which aimed to examine the psychology of human vision through precisely planned, black and white arrangements of geometric figures, lines, and shapes. 

The group reinterpreted the tradition of geometric abstraction and renewed the ideas of constructivism with their actions. Benkert passed away in 2010.
