Francesco Zanin

Francesco Zanin (1824 - 1884) was active/lived in Italy.  Francesco Zanin is known for Landscape painting.

Zanin was born in Nove in the province of Vicenza in 1824 and attended the Academy of Fine arts in Venice, where he exhibited regularly.  In the panorama of the Venetian painters of the nineteenth century, initially Zanin is enjoying some success finding a profitable commercial trend in the UK market.  At some point his being a painter in the manner of Canaletto was considered a limitation: the Academy was renewed, even changing the taste of collectors and referring it to the new generation of landscape.  At Vicenza painters were lacking buyers and the means to survive, so he died poor and alone in his room in Venice on Christmas Day 1884.

However lately the artist has been extensively re-evaluated by the international market, which now appreciates and researches his works done in the ancient tradition of Venetian view painting.   ...  [Displaying 863 of 1257 characters.]  Artist bio
