Giovanni Migliara

Giovanni Migliara (1785 - 1837) was active/lived in Italy.  Giovanni Migliara is known for Landscape and architectural painting and sculpture.

Giovanni Migliara received his education in Milan under the artist Gaspare Galliari.   Later, he specialized in landscape painting, where he developed a reinterpretation of the Venetian Veduten tradition.  He was particularly known for his architectural paintings with a penchant for fantastic architectures and Capricci.  An increasing demand for memory views from the bourgeoisie encouraged artists like Migliara to work in Venice to use this boom.

His clients included important figures such as King Carlos Alberto and Maria Cristina of Savoy.  Giovanni Migliara's subjects are inspired by Venetian painters, thus creating paintings depicting views, whims, interiors of churches and convents.  He founded his own school and the daughter Teodolinda along with other artists, defined, 'Migliaristi', are part of it.  Impressive is the collection kept at the Pinacoteca di Alessandria.
