Hermann Gohler was a German painter and craftsman born in 1874 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. He attended the Munich School of Applied Arts, and then from 1891 attended the Badische Kunstgewerbeschule in Karlsruhe. From 1894 he studied at the Badische Kunstakademie in Karlsruhe, where he was a student of Ernst Schurth and Caspar Ritter. From 1897 he was a master student of Ferdinand Keller. Hermann Gohler took numerous study trips to Western and Southeastern Europe. In 1901 he participated in the First German Glass Painting Exhibition in Karlsruhe. In 1906 he was awarded the title of professor, and from 1914 took a full professorship at the arts and crafts school until his retirement in 1924. During his career he also designed furniture, book covers, posters, certificates and diplomas.Stadtlexikon Karlsruhe
