Saro Zagari

Saro Zagari (1821 - 1897) was active/lived in Italy.  Saro Zagari is known for Portrait bust marble sculpture, alligory, architecture.

Sicilian architect and sculptor of the late classicism, Saro Zagari learned from Pietro Tenerari (Carrara 1798-1769 Rome) and was a member of the Accademia di San Luca.

The allegorical marble group Il Tempo che scopre la Verità e Messina, created in 1847 for the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele II, is one of his main works that have survived.

Much of his work was lost in the great Messina earthquake in 1908.
