William John Newton (1785 - 1869) was active/lived in England.  William Newton is known for Miniature painting, engraving.

Sir William John Newton became a very popular miniaturist and had a distinguished clientele which included many royal and titled persons, members of Parliament and fellow artists.

He is considered to be one of the best British miniaturists of his time and equal to Sir William Charles Ross. There are examples of his work in many museums including the V&A and in the Royal Collection.
