William Parsons (1909 – 1982)

A painter, draftsman, designer and commercial artist, William Parsons was born in Toronto, Ontario and appears to have lived and worked in Toronto for his whole life, specifically in the town of Newmarket, which is a part of Greater Toronto. 

His primary medium was oil paint; however, he also worked in acrylics, pencil, and pen & ink. His subjects included rural Ontario landscapes, marine scenes, and the Rocky Mountains. His styles could be described as Fauvism* and Realism*. The askART auction results have many excellent illustrations of his work. (1)

He graduated from the Ontario College of Art*, Toronto in 1930, where he studied under George Reid, J.E.H. MacDonald, Arthur Lismer and J.W. Beatty. Parson’s worked in display advertising and design for the Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto.
