André Delacroix, originally from Constantine, was a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Algiers. After spending many years in Asia, notably Indochina and Cambodia, he settled in Sidi Bou Saïd, Tunisia, in 1920. He exhibited at the 1921-1923 Salon Tunisien. He was a member of the Société Coloniale des Artistes Français and helped found the Société des Artistes Tunisiens in 1924. Throughout his career, he constantly devoted his palette to interpreting the sites of the countries he visited. Views of Sidi Bou Saïd include Carthage, Radès, the red earths of La Briqueterie, as well as canvases of Cambodia and Indochinese rivers.
