Respected regionally for his original visionary subjects and expressionistic style, Aren Kline has developed his art within the Santa Fe Art Colony for close to two decades. Self taught, he has been drawing, painting, and writing since he was a child, but more actively since 1985.

Since high school, Kline has also made "Personal Notebook" works, a diary-like genre comprised of countless drawings mixed with poems and stories all combined in small pocket size notebooks; these appear to be a primary creative source for his paintings.
