Friedrich Eibner

Friedrich Eibner (1825 - 1877) was active/lived in Germany.  Friedrich Eibner is known for Townscape, landmark painting.

Friedrich Eibner took drawing classes at the local art school in his hometown before teaching himself how to be a painter. At the young age of 22, he achieved his first success with a painting of the Munich Town Hall.

Eibner specialized in architectural painting, at first depicting only Bavarian monuments before traveling to the Rhine Valley, Northern Italy and France.

In 1860 he was invited by the Russian Prince Aleksander Mestchersky to accompany him on a trip to Spain, where he possibly sketched the subject of the present painting. The works were of such quality that they were published upon his return. He was particularly fond of the Spanish monuments and cathedrals; he indeed created several paintings of the Cathedrals of Segovia and Burgos as well as the Inquisition monument in Cordoba.

His works can be found in several European Museums such as the Museum in Linz and the Revoltella Museum in Trieste.
