Ippolit Danilovich Majkovsky graduated from the Kiev Art School in 1910.  He then attended the Painting department of the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied under K. A. Korovin, L. O. Pasternak and A. E. Arkhipov.

He worked as an artist in Moscow and Kiev theaters.
