John C. Pitcher, approaches his art with confidence and originality. For over twenty-five years he has expressed his passion for the natural world through beautifully detailed paintings. Pitcher's success in portraying the world's natural beauty lies in his experience as a naturalist. By keeping field journals, which contain notes and drawings of plants and habitat, and making field sketches and taking reference photos, he assembles the details for the final work, experimenting with composition and calling back to life the original inspiration behind the paintings.
