Although Mark Lovett began playing guitar and singing professionally at the age of 14, his drawing and painting passion did not take root until his early forties. Born in Maryland and living in a suburb outside of Washington, DC, Lovett began studying the works of the masters such as John Singer Sargent, and frequenting the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.

Lovett honed his drawing skills at local live nude model sessions, and briefly studied drawing and painting with the famous portrait and figure painter Nelson Shanks in Philadelphia as well as with Robert Liberace in Virginia. Lovett is currently a resident painter at Rockville Arts Place in Maryland painting contemporary realistic figures, portraits, vintage guitars, still lifes, and landscapes.
