An abstract expressionist painter in the beginning of his career, he later moved to realism.Hall was a tenured professor of art at Pratt Institute in New York, where he taught for 33 years.  Upon retiring from teaching, he lived and worked in Newfane, Vermont and Laguna Beach, California.
