Samuel Rose (1941 - 2008) was active/lived in Massachusetts, Ohio. Samuel Rose is known for Portrait, still life, surrealist, super realist painting.
Contemporary super-realist-surrealist Samuel Rose died of cancer on February 18, 2008, in Macedonia, Ohio. He studied for seventeen years with the renowned teacher-painter-historian R.H.Ives Gammell at Boston's Fenway Studios and in Williamstown and was considered one of the most unique contemporary Boston school painters. He also studied with Basil Kalashnifoff in Cleveland, Ohio; Henry Hensche and Robert Douglas Hunter at the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, MA; and at Kent State University. He was a student of the Renaissance for more than thirty years and was highly influenced by the work of Raphael, Titian, Ingres and Maxfield Parrish (from whom he inherited sable brushes). Rose was a consummate draftsman whose brushwork was so intricate that one cannot tell where one line begins and another ends.
