Antonio Nunziante was born in Naples in 1956, but it was in Turin where his family moved in 1961, that he grew up.  Fundamental influences, in those years, came from a family friend who used to visit their home and taught him the main techniques of painting, and from the apprenticeship that he served in his father's workshop.

In 1975, after graduating from art school, he enrolled in the Accademia di Belle Arti in Turin and Asti.  In Turin, in particular, he attended the lessons in figure painting at the Accademia Libera del Nudo and a specialization course in techniques of restoration in Florence.  It was there that he had an opportunity to learn the secrets of the Old Masters directly from Florentine painters, heirs to the tradition of the Italian Renaissance.  And it was in the homeland of Leonardo and Michelangelo that his sensibility was molded by the example of the masterpieces of the Cinquecento.
