Born in Eastland, Texas, Bertha Richardson, married to Harry Bennett, was an active painter and graphic artist in Abilene and San Antonio. She painted scenes of ranch life, landscapes, missions, and bluebonnets and did graphic work (etching and lithography) for Farm & Ranch and Holland's publications.

She studied at the San Antonio School of Art with Henry McFee and at the San Antonio Art Institute with Charles Rosen. She was a member of the San Antonio Art League and exhibited widely in Texas including at the Texas Fine Art Academy.
