Biography photo for F. Michael Wood
In realist/impressionist styles, Michael Wood paints landscape, portrait and wildlife scenes.  His landscapes are intended to contain an element of mystery or drama such as a flowing river or a wind blowing rustling leaves.

Wood lives in Florence along the coast of central Oregon.  As a child, he grew up with Air Force parents, and spending time in France, he was intrigued by the landscape there.

He attended colleges and took art classes but was frustrated by the strictures to paint abstraction because he had his own subject matter and styles he wished to express.

Wood is a signature member of Oil Painters of America and the Society of Western Artists.  He is a past participant of the "Arts for the Parks" competition.
