Victor Uytterschaut

Victor Uytterschaut (1847 - 1917) was active/lived in Belgium.  Victor Uytterschaut is known for Land-and seascape painting.

Victor Uytterschaut was born in Brussels in 1847, into a middle class grocer's family.

At Brussels Academy, his master was Paul Lauters (1806-1875), painter, watercolorist, drawing specialist and lithographer.

In 1867, Uytterschaut painted his first watercolors and devoted most of his artistic career to this technique.  He painted landscapes inspired by different regions of Belgium and marines representing scenes typical of the Belgian coast, also but more rarely, figure paintings. 

In 1878, he traveled to Holland, France and England and brought back many notes, sketches and drawings from those countries.

He was acquainted with fellow aquarellists Cassiers, Staquet and Hagemans who, like him, painted views of the Ardennes region and the Belgian coast, subjects that were popular among the Belgian bourgeoisie, who, in their leisure time, wanted to escape from cities polluted by the developing industry and liked to see in their houses views of the   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1955 characters.]  Artist bio
