Yi Hsiao

Yi Hsiao (1956 - 2006) was active/lived in Taiwan, Province of China.  Yi Hsiao is known for Sculpture.

Hsiao Yi was born in 1956 in Chiayi, Taiwan.  He was inspired by Buddha carving in 1973, and in 1977 he started to create freely instead of traditional sculptures.  His first solo exhibition was held in Spring Gallery in 1981; up till today, his exhibitions were held not only in Taiwan but Hong Kong and Singapore.  Under the training of traditional craft and wood carving in Taiwan, Hsiao's carvings are rough but harmonious, interpreting how we understand this world and things happened in our lives.  His works revealed the truest inner of the artist and how he understands and practices Zen, demonstrating vigor and deep thinking about lives.
