“SLO (St. Luis Obispo) is fortunate to have an exhibit of watercolors by the nationally famous artist, Alexander Nepote (pronounced Nep-o-tee), professor of painting and dean of the faculty of the California College of Arts and Crafts, in Oakland… The paintings are arranged in chronological order showing Mr. Nepote’s progress over 18 years, in skill, technique, and philosophy, from his early impressionist painting to his very modern non-objective art.

Each painting is accompanied by a label written by the artist, giving a simplified summary of the main points that carried him from one phase of his development to the next.

Alexander Nepote, a native Californian, has a B.A. and M.A. from California College of Arts and Crafts. He won the James Phelan award in 1941-42 and has exhibited nationally from New York to Chicago and San Francisco.
