Roy Krenkel

Roy Krenkel (1918 - 1983) was active/lived in New York.  Roy Krenkel is known for Landscape, genre, illustrator.

Comic and fantasy artist Roy G. Krenkel made his reputation in illustration but the artist disliked the confines of illustration and much preferred to draw action and fantasy pictures of his own inspiration.  He often signed his work RGK.

Krenkel, who never held a regular job, only worked in illustration to pay the bills.  Some of Krenkel's best pen and inks, done only for the pleasure of drawing, are in private collections and unknown to the public.

Krenkel was born on July 11, 1918 in New York City. Krenkel attended Hogarth School of Visual Arts, The New York Artist's League and Cooper Union.  He studied with George Bridgman prior to serving in the US Army in the Philippines during War World II.

Krenkel lived his life in New York City following his two passions drawing and collecting.  He earned his reputation illustrating the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
