A Canadian painter and French actor and painter, Andre Raymond Besse was born in Paris, France; he immigrated to Quebec, Canada in 1964 and died in Montreal, Quebec (June 26, 2004). Although he was the son of well-known French painter Raymond Besse (see askART), Andre was self taught and began painting in 1958 while still pursuing his acting career. (1)

His medium was oil paint. His subjects included rural landscapes, rivers, waterfronts, street scenes, and city views. His styles could be described as Expressionism*, Fauvism*, Impressionism*, Naturalism*, and Realism*. His askART auction record has many excellent illustrations of his paintings.

His works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions at commercial galleries such as Galerie Minigal, Montreal; Galerie Michel De Kerdour, Quebec City; and Galerie d'Art Josette Tilmant, Saint-Sauveur, Quebec.
