Harry Hutchinson Shaw

Harry Hutchinson Shaw (1897 - 1989) was active/lived in Florida, Louisiana / Mexico.  Harry Shaw is known for Landscape painting, illustration, block printing, murals, teaching.

The following information, submitted February 2005, is from Chester Baird, who wrote: "It is what I remember Mr. Shaw telling me about himself when I visited him in the late 1960's & 1970's.  My mother had retired to Sarasota and my wife and I ran across some of his work that was being exhibited in Sarasota. We subsequently bought a number of his paintings, and every time we visited my mother dropped in on him and his wife, Margo, who had a home on Long Boat Key.  Margo was a sculptress.

Mr. Shaw went to school at Ohio State and Michigan. What degrees he received at either I don't remember.  I seem to remember he attended Ohio State and graduated from Michigan.  That would have been in the 1930's.  He also taught at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (Lafayette, La) for a number of years until he retired.
