Roman Owidzki (1912 - 2009), Roman Owidzki is one of the most important native artists, consistently developing the language of non-figurative art. His name should be mentioned in the same breath as artists of his generation, such as Stazewski (both of whom were associated with the Foksal Gallery), Wlodarski, Urbanowicz or Kalucki, who laid the foundations for the development of geometric abstraction in its purist form in Poland. It is worth quoting the words of Bozena Kowalska, who described these beginnings in this way: “At the end of the 1950s, Jerzy Kalucki entered the artistic life of the country with a rigorously geometric concept of painting, which was very rare at that time. Around 1960, Adam Marczynski, Maria Ewa Lunkiewicz and Roman Owidzki began to move in this direction, taken by the senior of Polish geometricism” (Bozena Kowalska, Polish painting avant-garde.
