Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1943, Buffalo Kaplinski attended the Chicago Art Institute, studied under many greats including watercolorist Irving Shapiro. Known as a profound colorist, Kaplinski captures rich saturated colors of the southwestern landscape including its sky towers, clouds, and land
formations.

A studio painter who utilizes all mediums from traditional watercolor, to acrylics, to oil paint, he is also a plein-air painter as well as a studio artist.
He has traveled the globe painting the landscapes of not only other
countries, but also the terrain of people's faces and human figures. His
unique color combinations, wet-in-wet techniques, and exquisite ability with
"negative space" painting, demonstrate a soul who is deeply gifted in
