Domingo Soler Gill

Domingo Soler Gill (1871 - 1951) was active/lived in Spain, France.  Domingo Gill is known for Skyscape, rural landscape, coastal scene, genre and figure painting, set design.

Domènec Soler Gili (Sabadell, 1871 - Barcelona, 1951) - or Domingo Soler, as he was signing when he was a Catalan painter and set designer. Father of the painter Joan Soler i Puig (Barcelona 1906-1986), Domènec was known mainly for his landscapes, in which he portrayed views of the valley of Núria, the Vall d'Aran, Ribes de Freser and the Alt Pirineu. He is considered one of the principal disciples of the painter of Sabadell Joan Vila Cinca.

Domènec trained at the Academy of Fine Arts of Sabadell, where he learned to paint Joan Vila Cinca, and in 1889 he continued his studies at the School of Fine Arts of Barcelona (Llotja), directed at that time by Antoni Caba. In 1892, this school awarded him a travel bag to expand the stage design studies in Paris. In the French capital he was a disciple of Corpesar, a stapler of the Great Theater of the Paris Opera, and made copies of works conserved at the Louvre Museum. He also studied stage design in Rome, with Soler and Rovirosa.
