Artist, author, professor

PROVINCETOWN, Mass. - Dr. Emily Farnham of Provincetown, Mass died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the Cape End Manor after an illness. She was 91.

Born in Kent, Ohio she studied at Cleveland School of Art and earned her MA and PhD degrees at Ohio State University. She studied with Hans Hofmann in Provincetown and New York. Dr. Farnham has stated the "Hofmann had the greatest influence on her life." In 1980, Dr. Farnham moved to Provincetown, after a prominent career as a university professor, artist and author. She had a studio-apartment overlooking the harbor where she did most of her later work.

Dr. Farnham taught at Kent State University, East Carolina University and E.C.U.'s European Studies Center in Bonn, Germany. She has taught over 8000 students though-out her care   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1374 characters.]  Artist bio
