Tim Burton is best known as an American film director whose style frequently draws on elements of the fantastic and the macabre. Burton, who became interested in drawing and film making while quite young, attended the California Institute of the Arts and later worked as an animator at Disney Productions. He directed his first feature film, Pee-Wee?s Big Adventure, in 1985, and went on to direct Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie, and Sweeney Todd, to name but a few.

He received the Leone d?Oro (Golden Lion) for lifetime achievement at the Venice Film Festival in 2007.
