Kenneth (Ken) Lum

Kenneth (Ken) Lum (Born 1956) is active/lives in British Columbia / Canada.  Kenneth Lum is known for Painting, sculpture, photography-conceptual.

Of Chinese lineage, Ken Lum was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and inspired by Conceptualism became a noted artists of painting, sculpture, and photography with focus on subjects realated to language and portraiture.   His family established roots in Vancouver when his grandfather, Lum Nin, arrived in 1908 as a laborer for the Canadian Pacific Railway

As a young man, Ken Lum worked as a graphic designer for the Vancouver Public Library and later worked for the Province of British Columbia's Ministry of the Environment as a scientific research assistant and illustrator of flora and fauna.

He was a student at Simon Fraser University where teacher Jeff Wall introduced him to contemporary art.  He also studied with Ian Wallace, and with these associations plus others became known as part of the informal Vancouver School of Artists.
