The artist's name is Napoleone Grady. His birth year and birthplace are not provided in the text. Against his family's wishes, he pursued painting and attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts with Bertini and Casnedi. He was particularly inclined to capture the languors, desires, and regrets of romantic female creatures in his figurative paintings. He was a skilled draftsman and master in the rendering of light on flesh tones while leaving the backgrounds undefined using a divided brushstroke. From the end of the 1990s, he approached landscape painting, preferring views of the Ligurian Riviera and glimpses of Varesotto, where he moved.
